Nigel Douglas was born in an obscure community called Birds Hill located in the cool hills of Clarendon, Jamaica. He spent most of his early formative years weathering the storms of poverty, rejection, dejection, and bullyism. If he wanted anything, clothes or shoes, he would hustle to find money to purchase these things. His mother was a domestic helper who washed and ironed people’s clothes and cleaned their floors on bended knees to assist with providing the meager supplies they would need to get by each day. His dad was a small farmer and rastafarian who had his challenges to deal with from society but was very faithful in raising his children the right way. Nigel slept on the dirt floor of a galvanized zinc hut they called home for several years with nothing but old clothes to ease the hardness of the floor. His home was void of the usual amenities; utility, running water, and telephone. However, it would take more than that to stop him from progressing. At the age of 14, he made one of the greatest decisions of his life. He suffered from an umbilical hernia for many years, which brought him excruciating pains. Being the kind of independent, determined, self-reliant, and persistent person he was, he took the responsibility for his situation and checked himself into a hospital, without parental consent, and had the surgery done. He ended 14 years of misery with nothing but god by his side. The above-mentioned attributes have served as the driving force and catalyst to maneuver countless challenges and obstacles, experiencing victories and defeats while pressing forward valiantly. Since he was 16 years of age he has dedicated his life to transforming the lives of others through motivational speeches, counseling, transformational therapy, ministering, and impactful programs. Throughout those years he has helped many to realize their dreams, experience what it is to live life to the fullest and walk in their divine destiny, improve organizational culture, and boost team camaraderie, nationally and internationally. He has spent many years working in the public and private sector and has served over six years as ceo of his own company in the security industry. With a passion for academia, he went on to obtain a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Diploma in Neuro-linguistic Programming, Diploma in Life Coaching, a Bachelor of Arts in Divinity (BDiv), a Postgraduate level 7 Diploma in Psychology, and is now a Ph.D. Candidate in the area of psychology. He is currently working on his two books; From Hardship to Purpose: Smashing Limits; and, The Victor’s Ladder: Lessons in a Quote. Finally, Nigel Wayne Douglas is a member of the professional organizations; The International Guild of CBT, The International Guild of NLP, and, The American Board of NLP. His life is governed by two of his favorite quotes, “Never allow a bad start to get in the way of a good ending” and “With God all things are possible.”
